Pudding for Birds
Ingredients:

2 cups fine yellow cornmeal
1 jar babyfood sweet potatoes
1 jar babyfood applesauce
1 carrot, grated
1/2 cup fruit flavored pellets
3-4 cups boiling water

Directions:

Bring water to a boil. Gradually add cornmeal and stir until pudding starts to thicken. Add pellets, small jars of babyfood and return to a boil. If mixture is too watery, add more cornmeal. Serve warm to your birds. Refrigerate for 3-4 days or freeze leftovers.
He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ringed with the azure world, he stands.
The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.
~Alfred, Lord Tennyson, "The Eagle"
The dabbling ducks represent a huge family of birds that feed on land or on the surface of water.  Sea ducks are a large and varied tribe, whose members dive for food and spend most winters at sea.  Most ducks share a common lifestyle. They form flocks that may be incredible in number during the winter, and very small during the breeding season.  Males and females pair off and build crude nests, lined with down.  Eggs are laid over several days, but are not incubated until the clutch is complete. Ducklings are off the nest quickly, feeding on their own, and are frequently seen following their mothers, all in a row.  Molting follows and birds are unable to fly.  At the end of the molt, many males develop their distinctive plumage.
