Pumpkin Bread
When nature made the blue-bird she wished to propitiate both the sky and the earth, so she gave him the color of the one on his back and the hue of the other on his breast.
~John Burroughs
Albatrosses can remain aloft continuously for years and they can even take naps while flying. How do they do it? They are so attuned to wind conditions that they glide effortlessly over the water, taking advantage of air currents above the ocean waves. They often fly without flapping their wings for hours (you might say they "surf" the air). Albatrosses have been recorded flying a whopping 550 miles per day at speeds up to 50 miles per hour. In a single flight they can cover THOUSANDS of miles.
