A Candycane Thief
Every year, right after Thanksgiving we pull out the Christmas tree.. Can't have a real one, my oldest son is allergic to them.. no big deal to me I grew up with the artificial ones..I have had a HUGE 8 and half foot tree for years.. Well, this year we have run into a few  problems. One being TONS of cages and no room for this tree..I also thought it would be better to get a new smaller tree since this old one belonged to me and him ::coughs:: A New Hubby.. A new life.. A new tree!!

Next came the problem of, I love Christmas lights.. My old bigger try donned some 6 or 7 strands of 250 lights each.. TON O LIGHTS!!..lol.. this new tree, being a 6 foot, could not hold all of those so I cut down..and only used 3 strands.. (still looks bare to me)

Now came the ornaments.. no problem there.. plenty to go around with some left over..the kids love doing that part and they are good at it so I let them have the box and go for it!!

Last, but in my eyes NOT least, comes the Candy Canes. Now  I have been collecting candycanes for YEARS! I love them. Don't eat them just love to look at them. I have every color, every flavor, size and shape you can think of!! I LOVE Candycanes!!.. This new tree does not have the room to hold all that my old tree did, so I had to leave a ton off.. Last year the old tree had some 300 plus canes on it..lol.. I am NOT kidding! Now this is where I sound silly.. Candy canes MUST MUST be placed all going the same way, so this is my job! They have to be spaced correctly and no two of the same color be near one another. Once all on the tree I know where each and everyone is!!!

Stepping back 5 hours later.. the tree is done.. Looks good! ( still needs more lights) The kids are pleased, the hubby seems to like and I am happy.

The Next day the kids are off to school. I plug in the lights, love to have them on all the time. When to my horror I spy it.. A hole.. A missing candycane. This was a large Red, strawberry flavored cane, and it is GONE!! I look all over to be sure it was not knocked off.. I was thinking now surely one of the boys would not have eaten this thing.. I mean it IS 5 years old.. YUCK! But thinking back to just a few days before when I busted the 7 year old emptying out a candy stash Travis had, I thought wellllll I would not put it past him.. I will get him when he gets in from school!

I go on about my day. Cleaning, doing laundry and such. When in the laundry room I hear what I am sure is a rapper from another candy cane..ahhhhh the thief has come back to the scene of the crime to claim yet another prize... I bound around the corner and stop dead.. I was so tickled I nearly wet my pants laughing.. there.. standing in all his glory was my lil Orange Wing, Ziggy.. enjoying the daylights out of a butterscotch candy cane!! He saw me coming and began franticly eating his wonderful treat!! All I could do was let him finish, pick him and kiss him, tell him how much I loved him.. and then moved him as far away as I could from my tree!!!! Just had to share my tale..  Have a great holiday season!!!

((not great but there it is candycane and all!!!))
