Summertime, an' the purrin' is easy,
Fish are jumpin', and the catnip is high.
Oh yo' dad's a champ, and yo' mama's a purebred,
So hush, little kitten, don't you cry.
One of these mornin's, you goin' to rise up meowin',
Then you'll spread your paws an' you'll take to the sky.
But till that mornin', there's a nothin' can harm you,
With Daddy an' Mammy standin' by.

If a cat did not put a firm paw down now and then, how could his human remain possessed.

Does your senior cat seem startled as you approach her while she's resting or sleeping? Does she vocalize loudly throughout the day or evening? While the increased vocalization could be related to thyroid disease (see your vet), many times these signs are due to loss of hearing with age. This is often related to degenerative changes. Scientists are in the process of working on hearing aids for cats and dogs.
