PROFILES IN "FURRAGE" - BART THE TABBY TO THE RESCUE!
Here's one of my favorite stories about how a kitty
heroine saves a human life...

Bart the cat may have been just another pretty tabby
face to everyone else, but to high school student Jose
Ybara and his mom, this mischievous little Illinois feline
was a true red, white, and blue hero.

One night a few years ago, just before dawn, as Jose
lay in his bed, he suffered a sudden, life-threatening
seizure.  Bart, apparently alarmed by Jose's distress,
went running off and jumped on Jose's mother's bed in
the next room.

She started the mother's mom's eyelids, scratching
and meowing, doing anything she could to wake her up.

Bart's persistent emergency call thankfully worked.
Jose made it to a nearby hospital, received immediate
treatment, and his life was saved.  As a result of
Bart's heroic deed, in an historic first, the government
of the state of Illinois honored the alert feline for
outstanding "ingenuity and persistence" in the rescue
of her beloved teenage companion.

Never underestimate the ability and intelligence of your
furry friend.  NEVER!

Dogs come when they're called; cats take a message and get back to you later.

The color of the points in Siamese cats is heat related. Cool areas are darker. In fact, Siamese kittens are born white because of the heat inside the mother's uterus before birth. This heat keeps the kittens hair from darkening on the points.
