What good are a cat's whiskers - besides helping him
to look absolutely charming and adorable? Those
whiskers are there for a real purpose
You can compare cat's whiskers to curb feelers that
were so common on cars in the 1950s. (And you will
see them on cars today from time to time.)
When a cat pokes hiss head into a small space or
opening he uses his whiskers to gauge the dimensions,
especially when in darkness. If the opening doesn't
rub the whiskers, the cat's body will fit through.
Yes, this is true, but I am also convinced that
wherever a cat can fit his head, even if the whiskers
touch, or get squished against his head, he can take
his body, through, too. Am I right, Koopo?!
I just got an affirmative meow!

Because the ears are a primary collecting point of dirt and debris, it is important to check your cat's ears once every other week. If your cat's ears need cleaning, use a cotton swab dipped in baby oil or another product suggested by your veterinarian. Remember to be gentle and never go deeper into the canal than you can see. It is a good idea to ask your veterinarian for a demonstration on how to properly and safely clean your cat's ears.
