During the Middle Ages, almost all beef, pork, mutton, and chicken were chopped fine. Forks were unknown at the time and the knife was a kitchen utensil rather that a piece of tableware.

1/3 cup reduced calorie margarine
1/2 cup granulated fructose
1/4 cup unsweetened coca powder
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup skim milk
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Spray a 9-inch square baking pan with cooking spray; set aside. In a medium saucepan melt the margarine; remove from heat. Stir in fructose and coca powder till combined. Add egg and vanilla to saucepan. Using a wooden spoon, lightly beat just till combined. Stir in pecans. Spread batter into prepared baking pan. Bake at 325 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or till a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack . Cut into bars. Yields 16 bars, each bar contains 96 calories. (38% from fat)
