George Crum invented potato chips in 1853 at the Moon Lake Lodge in Saratoga Springs, New York. Crum was part Indian, part black, a former guide in the Adirondacks.
1 can condensed milk
1 c. sugar
2 tbsps butter
1 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. chopped raisins
1 tsp. vanilla or your favorite extract
Put sugar and condensed milk into heavy pot, and cook slowly stirring constantly. When the milk and sugar are melted and browned add butter and extract, nuts etc. Spread on buttered dish, cut in squares.
