Boiled Cabbage
1 head cabbage, chopped  (size it to the amount of people you're going to feed)
1 med. onion, halved and sliced in strips
1 tsp. sugar
1 stick margarine
salt and pepper to taste

Place cabbage and onion in a big pot.  Add sugar, margarine, salt and pepper to taste.

Cover with water.  Boil cabbage, covered, for about 45 min.  Less if you want it crispier.

Use juice as potliker (pot licker) over buttered cornbread with a slice of onion or a couple of green onions.
“It is coarse and ungraceful to throw food into the mouth as you would toss hay into a barn with a pitchfork.”

A French pancake. Crepes are made of a flour and egg batter and are very thin and light. They are often spread with jam, fruit, whipped cream or rolled in a sweet sauce and served as a dessert. The best known of these, Crepes Suzette, is doused with liqueur and set afire. Crepes may be filled with meat, poultry or cheese and served as an entrée.
