Make up a solution of 1 pt. water, 1/2 tsp. salt, and 1/2 tsp. echinacea/goldenseal tincture. (You can also use a strong brew of echinacea/goldensea tea if no tincture is available.) Rinse out fresh wounds and punctures with large amounts of this solution, using a squirt bottle or syringe. Hydrogen peroxide may also be used to clean wounds, but it can damage delicate tissues.
cat fight wounds are notorious for forming abcsesses. If the abscess is draining, clean it with the echinacea/goldensea solution.
