Heart Benefits: Regular exercise - twice daily if possible.
Good nutrition - The GOLDSTEIN FOOD PLAN (and we also recommend Billinghurst or any raw/natural design) with fresh, mineral-rich vegetables - ie:
carrots, celery and apples. Life-force enzymes, veggies provide the minerals that are crucial for the proper beating and contraction of the heart muscles.
Organic protein sources (raw) such as chicken or beef offer highly digestible essential amino acids (be sure and soak in apple cider vinegar to avoid e coli, etc.)
Direct heart helpers are Vitamin E (golden size gets 600 iu) and Hawthorne Berry (can be purchased at health food stores). Tincture - or liquid Hawthorne Berry- is 10 drops per day up to 84 pounds. Many of you have older
dogs.......... the Hawthorne berry feeds wildlife in the winter as it's life-bearing fruits can be sustained in cold weather. It will do the same for your animals heart, either as a treatment or preventive remedy. European studies show hawthorne to be of therapeutic value for hypertension and other coronary problems. - reprinted from "Love Of Animals" 8/2000
In addition: make sure you are NOT routinely giving shots every year - reread the findings on this suppression of the immune system. Instead --once or twice a year do a completel blood panel which INCLUDES titers. Your vet will
understand. If the titers are normal for parvo, distemper, etc. you do not give shots, but wait and repeat titers once or twice a year. But for example if your titer is off on just parvo - that's the 'only' shot you give; not the combined injection.
Next: We suggest you give MILK THISTLE for 3 weeks at least once a year. We have been doing treatments with our dogs every 6 months. Milk Thistle cleanses and detoxifies the liver and kidneys - your animals waste system which is the first to show disease if it's been inundated with
environmental exposures or food preservative or toxins.

PS If you do not have Dr. Martin Goldstein's book, we recommend it be on every dog owners shelf. You will be very impressed and find a wealth of alternative health information - especially if you have or know of older dogs
that are fighting disease. Dr. Goldstein specializes in cancer cures and
prevention.
Promoting longevity in your dog or cat
A catless writer is almost inconceivable. It's a perverse taste, really, since it would be easier to write with a herd of buffalo in the room than even one cat; they make nests in the notes and bite the end of the pen and walk on the typewriter keys.
~Barbara Holland
Over time, the plastic in litter pans absorbs kitty urine odor and starts to smell like urine, even when the litter is clean. Make sure you inspect your cat's litter pan regularly, after cleaning, for lingering odor. Replace the box if it doesn't smell clean.
