Have any of you tried these?

1.  Simply mix the juice of 4 lemons (along with the rinds) with 1/2
gallon (2 liters) water and wash the floors.

2.  Keep fleas from infesting your pet's home by washing down the
interior walls and floor every few weeks with a solution of salt water.

3.  Put a few drops of dish soap and some water on a plate.  Place the
plate on the floor next to a lamp.  Fleas love light--they will jump
on the plate and drown.

4.  To give your dog effective flea and tick protection, fill a spray
bottle with equal parts water and vinegar and apply directly to dog's
coat and rub it in well.  You may have more trouble doing this with
cats, because they really hate the smell of the stuff.
fleas: helpful hints
Dogs feel very strongly that they should always go with you in the car, in case the need should arise for them to bark violently at nothing right in your ear.
~Dave Barry
A common skin problem, noted mostly in the summer months, is acute moist dermatitis or hot spots. These are localized areas of skin infection, more commonly seen on long haired dogs. Often, they are triggered by allergies (sometimes flea bites), warm weather and humidity. They come on very acutely and often require wound treatment and antibiotics. Check your pets coat and skin regularly, especially during the warmer months and take note if your dog appears to be chewing or licking a particular area of the skin excessively. Always consult your veterinarian for any changes to your pet overall body condition or haircoat as it may be a sign of illness.
