Loud Barking
My dog had suddenly developed a bad habit of loud barking about 4 o'clock in the morning. He was disturbing the entire neighborhood, and several people had complained.

One morning he started howling, and when I looked out the window – I saw that someone was throwing something at him.

I quietly went out the back door and snuck around to the front to catch the culprit. To my surprise, I found my next-door neighbor throwing rocks into my yard, and just missing the dog.

Of course, I demanded an explanation.

"I'm not trying to hit your dog," he explained. "My mother-in-law has been visiting us for the last two weeks and she says if she loses one more night of her beauty sleep – she'll leave!"
There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.

A common skin problem, noted mostly in the summer months, is acute moist dermatitis or hot spots. These are localized areas of skin infection, more commonly seen on long haired dogs. Often, they are triggered by allergies (sometimes flea bites), warm weather and humidity. They come on very acutely and often require wound treatment and antibiotics. Check your pets coat and skin regularly, especially during the warmer months and take note if your dog appears to be chewing or licking a particular area of the skin excessively. Always consult your veterinarian for any changes to your pet overall body condition or haircoat as it may be a sign of illness.
