Horses can go MONTHS without once lying down. Think of that next time you're complaining about that eight-hour shift on your feet!
How do they do it?
Horses have a unique inner structure to their legs that allows them to lock up their bones and tendons while the rest of the horse relaxes. They can stand so long, because their leg muscles aren't working to support them -m just the bones and tendons.
Horses do sometimes lie down, but they actually expend more energy lying down than they do standing up. Lying down can be bad for them because it makes their muscles sore and puts too much weight on their bottom lung.

"If your horse says "no", you either asked the wrong question, or asked the question wrong." -- Pat Parelli
The normal tempature for a horse is between 99.5 and 101.5 degrees. You should establish the normal temperature range for your horse by taking his/her temperature several times when he or she is well.
