This was to be a meeting of many friends at a Native Gathering....This would also be a day that they would never forget.....

The Spirit, the Hawk and the LtL ANT arrived late but that didn't matter they were among their own people.....

They passed right by Standing Horse without recognizing him or his nephew Nicholas. They were busy with their flutes and their music.

How could they have known what the Great Spirits had in store for them on this rainy day....They were enjoying themselves just meeting new people and old friends alike. The Drums were drawing them closer to Mother Earth and the feelings of the old ways...........

Grandmother Sun had come out to welcome all of them to a very special day......

They looked around at all of the different things that many people were
able to bring to the Gathering.......

Now Standing Horse had mentioned to LtL Ant about the Buffalo that lived in a nearby park and would she like to go and visit them. The LtL ANT  said she would but she had come to the Gathering with someone else and she wouldn't be able to this time but on her next trip she
would be delighted to go and see the Buffalo................................................

Now as it happened Spirit and his mate the Hawk had heard about the Buffalo and wanted to go and see them....Spirit asked the LtL ANT if she would mind asking Standing Horse if he would take them to see the Buffalo, as he felt that they should all go and pay HONOR to the Buffalo...

LtL ANT went and spoke with Standing Horse and he thought it was a Great idea, so they all went up to see the Buffalo......

Well now on the way to see these Beautiful animals what should they see in the pond, but a Beautiful White Swan..

The Swan was swimming with her friends the Mallards, and the Geese.....and as they passed by the Swan honked at them letting them know that she approved of their visit..........

When they reached the area where the Buffalo were they slowly started to walk towards them...While they were walking towards the Buffalo, Spirit was calling the Buffalo to come to them.

The Buffalo slowly plodded over to the  fence to see who was calling her....As she  got closer she saw the Spirit, the Hawk,  the LtL ANT, Standing Horse, and the  Little One and wondered why had they
come to see her??? Spirit was telling her  that they had come to honor her....She moved cautiously and brought her calf with her who was nursing at the time.....

The Buffalo and her calf came all the way  to the fence and nuzzled each one of them. They seemed so nice and the tallest of these must have been Standing Horse and he was playing such beautiful music as was the Little One beside him....

She thought these friends have really  come to pay me honor.  And I will honor them by letting them see me as I truly am The White Buffalo Calf Woman.

Behind the female buffalo was the Bull.  Just standing there and pawing the  ground and making sure nothing was  going to happen to his family....His breath  was like smoke, and he just stared at  these creatures he didn't know and  dared them to do any harm to his family..

The Spirit, the Hawk, the LtL ANT,  Standing Horse and the Little One spoke so kindly to them and even played such  beautiful music that they felt no fear...

Spirit, Hawk, Standing Horse, LtL ANT  and the Little One were not afraid of  the animals either...They left tobacco  and offered prayers to the Great Beings for being honored to be so close to them and to be nuzzled by them....In their parting the Little One and Standing Horse
played their farwell to the Buffalo Calf Woman and her family......

And then in the distance Spirit heard  another voice saying," Aren't you going to talk to me my Brother?"

In the background was a large Elk with a rack as large as any they had ever seen. They then decided that they would honor  the Elk as well.....The pack then left this area and started over to the Elk................

They said their goodbyes to the Buffalo  and wished them safe journies....Then Spirit, Hawk, Standing Horse, LtL Ant,  and the Little One went around the fence to the other side of the area to speak with the Elk.

Spirit called to his Brother the Elk and  asked him to come over so that they could honor him.....

The Elk very slowly started towards the fence to see these creatures that had come to see him....Half-way there he stopped by a large tree to rest a bit and think about whether he should continue on or not....

He could clearly see a Spirit, a Hawk, a LtL ANT, and a Standing Horse but  he wasn't too sure of the littlest one....

Ah thought the Elk that Little One really  needs a name and I see as well so does this LtL ANT, as she has truly been honored by the White Buffalo  Calf Woman and also needs a new  name befitting her Wisdom and  attachment to this Little One.

I will continue on and see what they  have to say to me.

Well as he got closer the Elk realized that these were very friendly creatures and they were honoring him by playing such beautiful music so beautiful that The Elk was drawn to bow to each of these: The Spirit, The Hawk, The LtL ANT, Standing Horse and the  Little One...

As the Elk bowed to them they in turn bowed to him and paid him honor....

Elk then allowed them to touch him and  nuzzle him many times.

Then without any thought for himself the  Elk bowed so low that he knelt to the Little One and whispered so that only the Spirit could hear: "This Little One shall from now on be called Little Elk, and the LtL ANT shall now be called Buffalo Woman W/Elk Eyez for she is to be the Grandmother Ulisi to this Little Elk.  I the great Elk have named you as in the old ways, when animals came to the little ones to name them.....

And as they all walked away they realized that this was a day that they
would NEVER forget.....And above them the Great Eagle soared into
the West.............

And so this day is a new beginning for our future OUR CHILDREN..........
